Players most recently with Arsenal and Derby County were among several unfamiliar faces in Watford's Under-23 side on Monday afternoon.
Bayli Spencer-Adams and Henry Wise - who began the season at Arsenal and Derby respectively - each started the young Hornets' 1-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
Louis Yamfam and Tom Anderson - who are understood to have left Charlton Athletic and Forest Green respectively last summer - also began the Yorkshire encounter, alongside the former Watford winger Dennon Lewis, who has played for Falkirk and Bromley this season - the first since his release from Vicarage Road.
Meanwhile, Harvey White - most recently of Queens Park Rangers - and Edu Toiny-Pendred - Kings Langley FC - were named among the substitutes.

Whether any of the above have been offered deals at Watford, or are simply on trial, remains to be seen, however.
Neither Arsenal, Derby, QPR nor Bromley have officially announced the departures of their players, although that his not uncommon at this stage of the campaign.

Toiny-Pendred continues to be listed as a Kings Langley player on the non-league side's official website.
Wise's father, Dennis, is the former Chelsea and England midfielder.
