A joke about The Last Of Us Part 2 having a 2019 release date has resulted in a Naughty Dog dev telling fans more will be said when the game's ready.

The Last Of Us Part 2 is one of Sony’s most anticipated PlayStation 4 exclusives, so fans are naturally praying for a 2019 release date.

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a number of rumours and nods that have hinted at Joel and Ellie’s follow-up being released in 2019.

Ex-IGN editor Alanah Pearce accidentally tweeted that The Last Of Us Part 2 is “100% guaranteed” for 2019, and Peruvian gaming retailer LAWGAMERS had listed it for October.

Now a Naughty Dog dev has responded to one of the many 2019 release date accusations by telling fans to be patient.

Amazon Italy once listed The Last Of Us Part 2 for March 29, but since then the game’s composer has said it’s coming "very soon”, and the highly-anticipated sequel has been pegged for a more realistic launch in October 2019.

Recently, the satirical The Onion posted an article that made a joke about The Last Of Us Part 2 coming out in 2019. This resulted in Naughty Dog’s community manager sharing his glee about one of his game’s making it onto the comedy website.

Seeing as we haven’t seen or heard much about The Last Of Us Part 2 since its stunning E3 2018 demo, fans naturally asked Arne Meyer when Naughty Dog will finally reveal more and announce a release date.

Meyer’s response was predictably vague as he simply assured fans more will be said when Naughty Dog is ready.

In other The Last Of Us Part 2 news, the company’s celebration video for International Women’s Day briefly showed the game’s UI for weapon upgrades.
