The Aston Villa defender appeared for Ipswich Town’s Under-23s on Monday.

The young Aston Villa centre-back Ethan Patterson appears to have joined Ipswich Town on trial.
Patterson was named in the Ipswich Under-23s’ starting XI to play Leeds United on Tuesday but continues to be listed as a Villa player on the Midlands club’s official website, while his Twitter bio describes him as a ‘footballer @AVFCofficial’.
The 18-year-old has captained Aston Villa at youth team level but hasn’t been able to cement a place within the Villans’ Under-23 set up.
And it is not uncommon at this time of year to see youngsters try out for potential new clubs ahead of their contracts expiring in the summer transfer window.
Patterson, a Northern Ireland youth international, will not be short of familiar faces at Ipswich, where the former Aston Villa trio, Paul Lambert (manager), James Collins and Simon Dawkins (both players) are currently employed.
The Villa right-back, James Bree, moved to Portman Road on loan in January.
