The midfielder received criticism from some sections of Liverpool fans last night, despite getting his side back in the game before half-time.
Liverpool earned a vital three points away at Southampton last night, but some Reds fans still took the time to criticise Naby Keita’s performance on Twitter.
The Merseyside outfit returned to the top of the table after last night’s win, and they are now two points ahead of second placed Manchester City, although they have played a game more than Pep Guardiola’s side.
Liverpool actually trailed the Saints up until the 36th minute, when Keita equalised after a fine headed finish, but Reds fans were still not overly impressed with his performance in general.
The 24-year-old joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £52.75 million, but he has managed just one goal and one assist in 28 appearances in all competitions for Jürgen Klopp’s side thus far.
Those numbers are quite clearly not good enough for someone with so much talent, and many Liverpool fans took to Twitter after last night’s game to criticise the Guinean’s display…
Eh i’m a Keita doubter and my concerns are worse after last night.— Daniel Forsberg (@forsberg837) 6 April 2019
Naby… njaaa. He seemed somehow lost. More is needed from him and Klopp to guide him more – if he is to be labelled ‘silenced’ in my books. But in Klopp we trust… so bring it on— Brian Larsen (@brianbeebeelar1) 6 April 2019
Always believed in Hendo and Salah.— Alex Sourlis (@sourlis_alex) 6 April 2019
Still have plenty of doubts about Keita. Our Midfield was shit until Hendo came on.
haha hold on hold on, Keita not even close yet— mattLFC (@matthanes7) 6 April 2019
Sorry but I didn’t see anything to silence me about Kieta, he will come good though, just needs a bit more time.— Karl Murthick (@kdebotia1) 6 April 2019
Keita was average again last night!— steven hastie (@hastie7hastie) 6 April 2019
Not completely for Keita, yes he did score a goal but let’s not forget he was partly responsible for their first goal, and he lost possession way too often— Da Joker (@dajoker25) 6 April 2019
Erm, I still have my doubts about Keita. 1 goal in a season doesn’t change that. Is that ok with you?— ME (@JaySpearingFC) 6 April 2019
Still not feeling Naby. Thought his overall performance was shocking last night— Stephen George Lott (@stephenlott) 6 April 2019
I’m not SILENCED about Keita at all— Mark (@LFC_FCHT) 6 April 2019
