Marco Silva spoke to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, and responded when asked whether Jordan Pickford will start for Everton against Arsenal on Sunday, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
The 25-year-old was filmed in the midst of an altercation whilst on a night out last weekend, and he has received large amounts of criticism for his off-field antics.
Pickford joined Everton from Sunderland in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth £25 million, and he has gone on to keep 22 clean sheets in 80 appearances in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit.
And Silva responded to reporters today when asked whether the England number one is in the right frame of mind to play against Arsenal at Goodison Park on Sunday, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo:
“For us as a manager and us as a club I am not happy. The player is not happy with what happened. He has had full focus during the week to prepare for the next match."
All eyes will be on Pickford, if he does indeed start against Arsenal, and he will be desperate to put in match-winning display in response to the criticism that he has received over this past week.
