The Fleetwood Town boss suggested that Jack Ross has it easy at Sunderland.
Fleetwood Town boss Joey Barton suggested that he would already have got Sunderland promoted if he was in charge at the Stadium of Light this season, what with their sizeable budget, as quoted by Fleetwood Today.
The Black Cats currently sit in third spot in the League One table, 10 points adrift of league leaders Luton Town and three behind second placed Barnsley, although they do have two games in hand on both sides.
Fleetwood, meanwhile, are in 10th spot in the table, eight points adrift of the play-off places, but they do have a game in hand over sixth placed Doncaster Rovers.
Barton has done a fine job at Fleetwood, whilst the same can be said for Jack Ross at Sunderland.
The former Newcastle United and Manchester City midfielder told Fleetwood Today, however, that he would have been able to do a better job than Ross if he was in charge of Sunderland:
“It is two (up) automatic and one by the play-offs. Everyone judges those sides as being successful but, let’s be honest, if I had Sunderland’s budget I’d have them up by this point.”
Next up for Fleetwood is a home game against Southend tomorrow, whilst Sunderland travel to Rochdale, and both teams will be desperate for victories, for very different reasons.
