Persona 5 is currently dominating the news thanks to Atlus’ ambiguous teases for The Royal and the much-rumoured Switch port, but the fanbase is still very much vocal about wanting remakes of 3 and 4 for the PlayStation 4. Atlus has somewhat hinted at remakes and ports being possible by including them in surveys designed to acquire public opinion, and the Persona community will be pleased to hear that the studio is open to the possibility if the opportunity arises.
In an only now published interview with GNN Gamer at the Taipei Game show back in January, software director Naoto Hiraoka said, “Although we can’t specifically tell you anything at the moment, we have always received a lot of suggestions from the players [about Persona 3 and Persona 4 being released on current platforms].” Hiraoka continued to say, “We have received and understood the voices of the players. If there is a chance, we will actively discuss them.”
While it would be amazing to play Persona 3 and particularly 4: Golden on the PlayStation 4, fans shouldn’t be expecting anything this year as Atlus is already more than busy with Persona 5 The Royal and Persona 5 S. However, if the opportunity arises in the future, we’ll all be more than pleased to momentarily put aside the Phantom Thieves to regroup with SEES and the Investigation Team.
In other Atlus news, the teaser trailer for Persona 5 The Royal seems to rule out the theorised inclusion of a female MC, and a hidden calling card on the website for the Persona 5 S domain teases “new Phantom Thieves”.
