Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Queens Park Rangers have been linked with Wigan Athletic attacker Gavin Massey.

Wigan Athletic winger Gavin Massey has admitted that he is putting his contract situation to one side with Nottingham Forest reportedly interested in signing him this summer, as reported by Wigan Today.

The Sun (31 March, page 59) reported that Martin O’Neill wanted to sign British players for Forest this summer after the mixed Portuguese experiment of 2018 and Massey, a 26-year-old former Watford youngster, fits the bill.

The Mail claims that Forest want to sign Massey when his contract expires in July, while cash-strapped Queens Park Rangers are also allegedly hopeful of snapping up the wide man on a free transfer.

But, with Wigan’s Championship status on the line, the former Colchester United and Leyton Orient forward says there are bigger fish to fry right now than coming to a decision about his future.

“I’m not worried about my situation, I’m not even thinking about it to be honest” he told Wigan Today.

“Let’s just sort out the club’s situation first, and then worry about everything else.

Massey went on to point out that he is enjoying life at the DW Stadium, suggesting that he would be keen to extend his stay despite the potential of joining Forest or QPR in the summer.

“Why wouldn’t I want to stay? It’s a great club with great facilities, great players, great fans. It’s the biggest club I’ve played for, and I’m more than happy here.”

Much will surely depend on which division Wigan are playing in next season. Paul Cook’s side are just two places and four points above the drop zone with just five games remaining.
