Nacho Monreal has made 16 Premier League starts for Arsenal this season and seems to be on his way back to La Liga.

Nacho Monreal could be on his way back to Spain when his contract at Arsenal comes to an end this summer, as reported by El Gol Digital.

Monreal has been a regular fixture in the Gunners’ starting XI since he arrived from Malaga six years ago for a bargain fee of £8.5 million, as reported by Sky Sports, making over 200 appearances for the North London giants.

The 33-year-old has slipped behind Sean Kolasinac in the pecking order since Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger in the dugout, making just 16 Premier League starts under the former PSG and Sevilla boss.

And, with his contract expiring in July, Monreal could be entering his final few weeks as an Arsenal player.

El Gol Digital reports that the 22-time Spain international is likely to join Real Sociedad. The report claims that ‘everything points to’ Monreal replacing Real Madrid loanee Theo Hernandez at San Sebastian.

Real Betis are interested too but it seems that they are more likely to sign the Barcelona youngster Juan Miranda instead.

Whatever happens this summer, Monreal has been a fine servant for Arsenal.
