2K Games say cross-play isn't confirmed for Borderlands 3

A spokesman for 2k Games has said that cross-play isn't confirmed for Borderlands 3 despite the online feature appearing on the Xbox Store page.

After unveiling Borderlands 3, Gearbox and 2K Games recently confirmed that it will be an Epic Games store exclusive, but it might not have cross-play. Yes, despite appearing in the official list of capabilities on the Xbox Store page, the cross-play tag has been removed and a 2K spokesman has confirmed the feature isn’t definite.

Speaking to Gamespot, a 2K spokesman said, “Cross-play is something we’re looking at closely, but we don’t have anything to confirm or announce at this time.”

If cross-play is to happen, it will be for Xbox and PC as Borderlands 3 isn’t confirmed for the Nintendo Switch, and it’s unlikely the feature will ever be available for the PlayStation 4. With Borderlands 3 being exclusive to the Epic Games store at launch, it’s possible the timed exclusivity has slightly delayed cross-play functionality as the Epic Games store is a new platform for Xbox and the publishers to test out technically.

Borderlands 3 launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games store on September 13.

In other gaming news, Tales From The Borderlands is better than the Borderlands main series, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is easier than Dark Souls and Bloodborne, and Atlus has teased “new Phantom Thieves” for Persona 5 S.
