Gearbox and 2K Games are currently facing the wrath of gamers thanks to their recent announcement about Borderlands 3 being an Epic Games store exclusive on the PC until April 2020. Fans have let their feelings known in the comments of the official announce trailer on YouTube, and Gearbox’s CEO Randy Pitchford has poked the hornet’s nest by saying he’ll try to get it launched on Steam if Valve announces Half Life 3.
Per the tweet below, Randy Pitchford has said that, although it’s not his call, he’ll use all his “leverage and influence” to get Borderlands 3 on Steam if Valve announces Half Life 3. This is clearly a joke as Half Life 3 will likely never happen, and the Epic Games Store exclusivity is a decision made by 2K Games as pointed out by Pitchford in earlier tweets.
Crazy Earl talking: It’s not my call, but if Gaben legit announces Half-Life 3, I will use all the leverage and influence I can to get our game on Valve’s store as soon as reasonably possible. No promises, but I would go as bananas for HL3 as you all are going for Borderlands 3.— Randy Pitchford (@DuvalMagic) April 3, 2019
While the announcement of Half Life 3 would be incredible, you’d have better odds at winning the lottery in both this year and next.
