Gearbox recently unveiled Borderlands 3 with a stylish trailer that promises a billion guns and returning characters. And, although its release date was pretty much official thanks to a premature and now-deleted tweet on the title's official Twitter page, 2K Games has hurriedly announced that the third installment is coming out on September 13 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as PC with an Epic Games store exclusive launch. So, with Borderlands 3 being an Epic Games store exclusive like Metro Exodus and The Outer Worlds, how long until fans can buy it on Steam?
The announcement trailer below reveals that Borderlands 3 will be available to buy on September 13, and the final seconds includes the Epic Games store logo. Although it being exclusive to the Epic Games store isn’t surprising considering Randy Pitchford recently discussed the possibility, 2K Games has expressed their excitement through a press release (via Eurogamer).
"The PC gaming community has been an important part of the success of the Borderlands series, and we are excited to be partnering with Epic who recognise its worldwide popularity and share in our commitment to bring Borderlands 3 to this rapidly expanding audience," said 2K president David Ismailer.
"Our mission, in addition to delivering the most engaging and captivating entertainment experiences, is to embrace new distribution platforms that will contribute to our effort to grow the audience for Borderlands 3."
According to Eurogamer, Borderlands 3 will be an Epic Games store exclusive, with fans only being able to buy it on Steam and other PC digital storefronts from April 2020.
