Atlus and Persona 5’s Joker joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was announced all the way back in December 2018 during Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards, and in February Nintendo mentioned at their Direct event that the Phantom Thieves’ leader would be making his debut in April. However, judging by Nintendo’s recent actions, it’s possible Joker’s debut may have slightly been delayed.
Noticed on Twitter by SomeKidNick, Nintendo has removed “April” from Joker’s impending release date. While before the Fighters Pass had Joker pegged for this month, now the trailer simply states the Phantom Thieves’ leader is “approaching… “

This doesn’t confirm that Joker’s debut has been delayed, but the editing is noticeable and bizarre. Although Best Buy has apparently leaked Joker’s render, it’s possible Persona’s fresh-faced MC could join the Colosseum after April thanks to unforeseen difficulties.
While we don’t know when Joker is precisely scheduled to be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this month, we do know that Atlus will properly unveil the rumoured Persona 5 Switch port on April 25.
