Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Trabzonspor midfielder Yusuf Yazici this summer despite seeing an £18 million bid rejected in January, as reported by Fanatik.
The 22-year-old is one of the rising stars of Turkish football and has been linked with a whole host of Premier League sides since making his breakthrough in 2016/17 for Trabzonspor.
Yazici scored ten goals last season but has netted just once in 2018/19. Despite his reduced output, however, it seems that Wolves are still willing to pay a big fee to bring the 11-time Turkey international to Molineux.
Fanatik claimed that Wolves failed with an £18 million bid in January as Trabzonspor did not want to part with one of their key players midway through the season. But Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are expected to open talks again when the summer window opens.
Yazici has been likened to Mesut Ozil thanks to his skill and creativity and Arsenal’s Turkish-born Germany ace is certainly a big fan of a player tipped for the very top in his homeland.
Speaking to Hurriyet in January last year, Ozil raved about Yazici’s potential.
“Yusuf Yazici is an amazing No 10. We have a lot of similarities and I myself in him. His left foot, his position, his close passing and calmness on the ball. We will see Yusuf at a big European club in the near future.”
Could that be Wolves?
