The Newcastle playmaker was sent off for his national side in midweek, and has faced some negative headlines for a shocking tackle.
But Almiron insists that his head is still in the right place, and he wants to be picked to start for Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium.
“When I saw him in the gym, he said he was fine," Benitez said. "I asked him again during the training session, asked if he was OK, and he said yes.
“I do not think he is the sort of player who would make a bad tackle on purpose. It was the situation. They were losing and he has this energy. But mentally, he is ready and he is training well.”
Almiron has made a bright start to his Newcastle career, even if he still is adapting to Premier League football.
The creative influence has added a new dynamism to Newcastle’s attack, with his passing clearly improving the side.
Almiron is yet to score for the Magpies though, and he will be wanting to get his first goal in English football sooner rather than later.
Newcastle face a tough task picking up a victory this evening, against an Arsenal side who have been in good form in recent weeks.
If Newcastle can pull off an upset and take the three points then they will move up to 12th place in the Premier League table.
