It was a great weekend for Leeds United players. And while Tom Pearce wasn’t at Elland Road to celebrate the dramatic 3-2 win over Millwall that lifted Marcelo Bielsa’s side into second place, the young left-back could take some solace with a Man of the Match award.
Pearce has been at Scunthorpe United since January, joining the League One outfit on loan until the end of the season. And he made his seventh appearance in the third tier on Saturday as The Iron welcomed AFC Wimbledon to Glanford Park.
Now, a 2-1 home defeat was hardly what the doctor ordered for a Scunthorpe side who are at real risk of relegation this season. But Pearce was apparently the stand out performer, taking home the Man of the Match award.

Interestingly, it seems that not everyone was impressed by the 20-year-old’s performance.
In their post-match player ratings, The Grimsby Live were hardly effusive in their praise of the Ormskirk-born Pearce, giving the England U21 international a score of just five out of 10.
“Shaky performance from the Leeds loanee. Was caught out defensively on a few occasions, needs to be stronger and impose himself. Crosses into the box were poor.”
Well, it’s a game of opinions after all.
