Joan Jordan’s fine form in La Liga for SD Eibar could pave the way for a shock move to Premier League powerhouses Arsenal.

Arsenal have identified Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan as a shock replacement for the departing Aaron Ramsey, according to Marca.

After over a decade at the Emirates, Welsh international Ramsey will bid an emotional farewell this summer having already agreed to join Serie A champions Juventus when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of potential successors, including PSG’s Christopher Nkunku and Cagliari’s Italy international Nico Barella.

But Marca have now thrown a new, and somewhat surprising, name into the frame – Joan Jordan.

A skilful Spanish schemer, the Catalonia native has been one of Eibar’s stand out players this season as La Liga’s smallest club once again punch above their weight. The former Espanyol ace has scored three goals and set up a further four with his intelligence and vision making him a key part of Jose Luis Mendilibar’s starting XI.

Marca report that Jordan has a release clause in his contract of just £12.8 million. And, given that he will be a free agent in the summer of 2020, Eibar are ready to listen to offers.

And there will be plenty of eyebrows raised if Arsenal make him Ramsey’s heir apparent.
