Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell helped Northern Ireland record two wins during their Euro 2020 qualifiers.

In recent months, games have been limited for Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell because January signing Kiko Casilla has taken his number one jersey.

Prior to the Real Madrid man moving to Elland Road, Peacock-Farrell had produced a number of indifferent performances in between the sticks and on some occasions had supporters questioning his place in the team.

On Saturday, the 22-year-old will potentially return to the starting XI after a near-perfect week with Northern Ireland, with Casilla suspended because he was sent off during the defeat against Sheffield United last time out.

Peacock-Farrell helped Michael O’Neill’s side secure two wins during their Euro 2020 qualifiers, keeping a clean sheet against Estonia and producing a match-saving moment during the dying moments of their 2-1 win against Belarus.

Roy Keane and the growing links to Celtic

All of this bodes well for the benched player because it will give him huge confidence going into the Championship fixture against Millwall at Elland Road on Saturday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side need wins to enhance their chances of finishing in the top two at the end of the season. They are one point behind second-placed Sheffield United and can overtake them with a win and if other results go their way.

But during these moments, Bielsa needs his players to cut out the mistakes and produce their best performances of the season at the most crucial stage.

If the Peacock-Farrell that produced the goods for Northern Ireland turns up then it will only benefit the Leeds team. But if he shows the other side of his game then things will be very nervy in Yorkshire.
