The Parma-born striker joined Leeds on a four-year deal in the summer of 2017, arriving from Chievo Verona after a 17-goal loan spell in Albania with Partizani Tirana.
But it seems unlikely that Ekuban will see out his four-year contract at Elland Road. Ekuban scored just one Championship goal in his debut season on British shores and joined Trabzonspor on loan last year.
The Turkish Super Lig outit have the option to sign Ekuban permanently for around £1 million (Aksam) and, after he scored seven times in all competitions, it seems they will jump at the chance to keep the 25-year-old at the Medical Park Arena.
“Ekuban is very valuable, very dedicated,” Sahin told Sporx. “We will sit down and talk with him at the end of the season.
“He wants to continue his journey with us. Our board of directors will evaluate our economic conditions at the end of the season and make the decision).”
Ekuban has impressed in Turkey this season, leading some to suggest that the hard-working striker deserves a second chance in West Yorkshire. Mateusz Klich, after all, was written off by the majority before returning to star in the Championship.
The Ghana international netted the winner on his Black Stars debut against Kenya at the weekend and followed that up with a further goal in the 3-1 win against Mauritiana on Tuesday night.
