Sky Sports pundit Stuart Pearce has claimed that Heung-Min Son will be Tottenham’s key player in their bid to finish in the Premier League’s top four at the end of the season.

Many would assume that striker Harry Kane would be the player because he is the main guy up front and the one who delivers the goals for the team on a weekly basis.

But during this campaign, versatile attacker Son has once again showcased how important he is to Spurs with his contributions, particularly when Kane was injured, being paramount to their current standing.

Speaking to the Football Centre on Sky Sports News (25/03/2019 at 11:50 am), Pearce explained why he singled out Son as Tottenham’s man to look out for during these final few months of the season.

“I think it will be Son [as their key player until the end of the season],” Pearce told Sky Sports News. “I think he has been brilliant. He started the season fairly slowly, but the more he has got into his stride, his goals and his energy.

“He offers Tottenham something they haven’t got. A player that has got real pace and can run away from you. And an eye for a goal as well. I think he is crucial.”

Domestic football will return at the weekend and Mauricio Pochettino’s side face a tough away fixture upon their return from the international fixtures.

They will play Premier League title chasers Liverpool in their own back yard as they will be hoping to end their four-game winless run in the league.

Son will have to play a key part if they are to get anything from Anfield. Over the course of the season, he has played 37 games in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and supplying his teammates with nine assists [transfermarkt].

After their trip to Merseyside, they will move into their new stadium and host fellow London neighbours Crystal Palace in what is set to be a memorable and emotional night for the club.
