The Whites ace, on loan at VVV-Venlo, assisted his nation’s equaliser against Mexico Under-20s en route to a 3-2 win.

Leeds United attacker Jay-Roy Grot featured for the Netherlands Under-20s in their 3-2 win over their Mexico counterparts this weekend.

The 21-year-old played a key role in helping the Oranje stage a comeback from 2-1 down by registering an assist to set up Dylan Vente for the equaliser.

Netherlands started brightly and took the lead through Ajax midfielder Noa Lang in the third minute but El Tri struck back through a Roberto de la Rosa double before the break.

After Vente’s goal, assisted by Grot, the scorer turned provider as he set up PSV Eindhoven striker Joel Piroe to find the bottom corner for the winner.

Grot has spent the season back in his homeland with Eredivisie outfit VVV-Venlo, making 27 senior appearances, scoring three goals and supplying one assist (Transfermarkt).

The 6ft 3in ace is a strong, pacey and versatile attacking player and, with his Leeds contract running to 2021, there is some excitement about his future from the Whites fanbase.

Here is some of the reaction from Leeds fans after the club posted a Twitter message about their player’s international display:
