Yesterday Atlus confirmed there would be a Persona 5 R news follow-up after the anime’s finale Stars and Ours, and now we know through another teaser that the mysterious project is fully called The Royal and that it possibly has a female MC.
Earlier in February, a datamine indicated that Joker will have a female variant for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and this now seems even more likely as Atlus has seemingly confirmed a female MC for Persona 5 The Royal judging by the teaser trailer below.
We still don’t know what Persona 5 The Royal exactly is, but Atlus has confirmed there will be even more news on April 24 during the Persona Super Live 2019 concert.
Although there's still the possibility of an optional female MC, it's now looking unlikely as Twitter user RedMakuzawa has unearthed that the mysterious character doesn't agree with the Phantom Thieves' methods.
So basically the mysterious student in the Persona 5 The Royal teaser believes helping others is indeed a good thing to do, but doesn't believe the methods the Phantom Thieves use are actually helping these people. Verrrryy interesting indeed. I wonder if this is a full spin-off. pic.twitter.com/bwKilt5YPx— Miraculous Maku (@RedMakuzawa) March 23, 2019
In addition, others have pointed out that she's a first year student, whereas Joker is second year.
In the Persona 5 Royal trailer the girl is shown to be a first year in high school instead of a second year like Ren so if she is the female main character and not a new confidant added then there might be a large amount of changes between how the two mcs' routes play pic.twitter.com/u8jmOwhzBx— Conrad @ Metroid Prime (@ResoFluke) March 23, 2019
In other Atlus news, the developer has confirmed a bunch of Persona 5 exhibitions and events for Sega Fes 2019 on March 31.
