Kingdom Heart 3 is a game most of us waited over a decade for, so it’s only natural that the community is eagerly awaiting DLC. While co-director Tai Yasue recently confirmed that Critical Mode is coming soon and that it will be more “technical” and “offensive”, Nomura announced a while back that Square Enix is indeed preparing to release both free and paid for DLC. Although we don’t know when DLC will be available, the PlayStation store has teased the arrival of additional content for possibly the series’ 17th anniversary.
KH3 has appeared in the PSN Add-Ons section. DLC announcement very soon? pic.twitter.com/ffQnGJaL50— Miraculous Maku (@RedMakuzawa) March 19, 2019
Discovered by Twitter user RedMakuzawa, Kingdom Hearts 3 recently appeared in the Add-Ons section of the PlayStation store. While story DLC is massively unlikely to be released in the next couple months, the placeholder could signal the imminent availability of pre-order exclusive keyblades, or maybe a theme and collection of avatars to celebrate the series’ 17th Anniversary on March 28.
The franchise’s 17th anniversary could be when Square Enix releases Critical Mode as free DLC or a free update, but anything at the moment is simply pure speculation.
In other Kingdom Hearts 3 news, Tetsuya Nomura has explained why Final Fantasy was absent despite character models having been made, and the director also explained why it was impossible to include Star Wars and The Avengers. Meanwhile, if you enjoy over-the-top rants, the creator of Gravity Falls once called the Final Fantasy and Disney crossover a cynical abomination that proves God doesn’t exist.
