Jack Ross's Sunderland were on the verge of bringing Hastings United midfielder Adam Lovatt to the Stadium of Light.

Adam Lovatt was on the verge of signing for Sunderland in the January transfer window, it has been revealed on Hastings United’s official website.
An impressive box-to-box midfielder, Lovatt is one of the biggest talents in non-league football and he continues to impress for The Arrows.
As a result, a whole host of clubs have been linked in conjunction with the former Eastbourne Borough youngster. Lovatt had a trial at Leeds United in the Autumn while, according to TEAMtalk, he was also a target for Premier League trio Brighton, Crystal Palace and Watford.
But it seems that Sunderland were the club who came closest to handing Lovatt his big break.

Hastings United have claimed on their website this week that The Black Cats agreed a deal to bring the dynamic midfielder to the Stadium of Light in the final few hours of the January transfer window.
A deadline day switch fell through however as the EFL failed to rubber stamp the deal following difficulties that arose during his medical.
Though you can expect Lovatt to attract plenty of attention again when the summer window opens.
