Unfortunately my 14 years at Aston Villa has come to an end Ive had many ups and downs throughout my time here but it’s been a very enjoyable journey would like to thank every single person involved in the club for helping me grow as a player, a person and also sticking by me through my injuries! I wish Aston Villa the very best in reaching their goal of getting back into the premier league where the club belongs! One door closes...another one opens now time to start a new chapter ⚽️
Last summer, midfielder Lyden was sent out on loan to League Two side Oldham, but he made a return from his six-month spell when the winter transfer window shut.
During his time in B6, Lyden suffered a number of injuries which derailed his progress into the first team. There were fans on Twitter who picked up on that and felt that the luck was not with him.
Other Villa supporters thanked him for his time at the club and wished him 'all the best' in whatever he decides to do in the next chapter of his career.
Here is a selection of Villa fans on Twitter reacting to Lyden's departure:

Overall, Lyden made eight senior appearances for Villa, spread over a number of years, with the most recent coming towards the back end of 2017.
It remains to be seen if he will continue to ply his trade in English football because he was recently playing for Oldham or return to his homeland.
