For a while there were eyebrows raised when Tottenham Hotspur sold Nabil Bentaleb.
The powerful Algerian midfielder was bossing it at Schalke and it looked like Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino - who banished the 24-year-old from the first team prior to him joining the German side on loan in 2016 - might've made a mistake.
There had long been questions over Bentaleb's attitude and what Schalke revealed on Sunday only reinforces the suggestion that Pochettino was in fact right to get rid of him.
The Bundesliga outfit announced via their Twitter account that Bentaleb has been dropped to the club's Under-23 side for disciplinary reasons.
The player himself, who the Lilywhites made £17 million on [Daily Mail], admitted in an interview with The Independent in February that he had regretted some arguments with Pochettino during his time in North London.
But it certainly seems as if Bentaleb remains a difficult personality to manage and the truth is that no matter how good he was, Spurs don't need egos.
The Argentine boss has an ego-free dressing room for the most part and keeping Bentaleb around might have jeopardised that.
