Aston Villa have no plans to offer Jordan Lyden a new contract before his current deal expires at the end of the season, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (17/3; page 57).
Lyden has not played for the Villans this term, having joined League Two side Oldham Athletic on loan during the summer. The Sun on Sunday (17/3; page 57) reports that he was recalled from his spell with the Latics in January, but was injured in training shortly after.
It will probably not come as a huge surprise to the Villa supporters that Lyden is set to be allowed to leave the club at the end of the campaign.
It is almost three years since his last league appearance for Aston Villa, while he was only handed two substitute appearances in the League Cup last season before heading out on loan to the fourth tier this term.
And as he did not manage to pull up many trees during his time at Boundary Park, it probably makes sense for all parties that the 23-year-old is set to be given the chance to get on with his career elsewhere.
