A number of Norwich fans have taken to Twitter to react to Leeds United's defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday which has left Marcelo Bielsa's side outside of the automatic-promotion spots in the Championship.

The Whites had a glorious chance to strike a major psychological blow in the promotion race. Victory against the Blades would have not only sent them to the top of the table ahead of the Canaries' tricky trip to Rotherham later in the day, but, more importantly, it would have opened up a five point gap to Chris Wilder's side.

And for large parts of the contest, it appeared that Leeds were well on their way to collecting three points. They had several excellent chances during the first-half, and Tyler Roberts was denied by the post with a brilliant effort after the break.

However, Chris Basham would be the man to score the game's only goal as he was played in by Billy Sharp following a mistake from Leeds captain Liam Cooper during the second-half.

The defeat for Leeds means that the gap separating the top three is just five points. And with Norwich fans well aware that they could have been seven clear of third had the Whites won, they have had plenty to say on social media following the result.

Plenty have mocked Leeds, believing that with eight games to go, they are ready to throw away their promotion challenge for another year. Meanwhile, others have expressed a frustration with Bielsa's side for not getting the job done and leaving the two clubs in a fantastic position to secure the top two spots.
