Leeds United lost to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
Leeds United's automatic promotion hopes have taken a dent after losing 1-0 at home to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
The Whites were ahead of the Blades heading into the game, and knew a win would send them back to the top of the table before Norwich City took on Rotherham United.
In front of a packed Elland Road, Leeds squandered chances through Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison, whilst Tyler Roberts sent a header wide.
Roberts then smashed the woodwork after the break, and after missing all those chances, Leeds were hit on the break, with Chris Basham striking the ball home from Billy Sharp's lay-off.
There was more late drama as Leeds goalkeeper Kiko Casilla was sent off for fouling Sharp, forcing Pontus Jansson to take the gloves for the final stages of the game.
Leeds couldn't get back into the game, with Sheffield United holding on for the win and leapfrogging the Whites into the automatic promotion places.
Leeds must bounce back, but some fans were a little confused with Marcelo Bielsa's decision to bring on left back Barry Douglas, blasting the Scot's display.
Many fans slated the £3million signing from Wolves (Sky Sports), branding him a 'waste of space' whilst adding that he's out of form, offering nothing to the Leeds side and proving why winger Ezgjan Alioski has been playing at left back instead.
How has Douglas not gotten better under Bielsa... it’s very strange one this!!! It’s makes no sense. #LUFC— L33D5 UN1T3D (@LeeTate764) March 16, 2019
Send Douglas back to Scotland— ZL (@SupremeJansson) March 16, 2019
The Barry Douglas sub took Alioski out of the game. Total waste. #LUFC— Aid (@aid1793) March 16, 2019
Douglas looks an absolute shadow of the player wolves had last season I can only describe bringing him on as negative, seems to be absolutely shot of confidence #lufc— @DEG44Griffin (@dangriffin37) March 16, 2019
Dallas is fine and does well when he comes on. Douglas I'm really unsure about, seems off his game completely.— Varun Mani (@leedsutdforlife) March 16, 2019
Bereft of confidence.
Would have been better bringing Clarke on for Harrison. Douglas not good enough when he came on #lufc— Luke Rhodes (@1LukeRhodes) March 16, 2019
Douglas as much to blame as Cooper for the goal. Day dreaming. #LUFC— Neil D (@NeilDonohoe) March 16, 2019
I was wondering how Alioski was starting over actual left backs in the squad.. Barry Douglas in his short time on the pitch today showed why #lufc— Richard Hodgson (@HodgsonTheHero) March 16, 2019
Leeds signing Barry Douglas is, at the moment, looking like the result of what ever the opposite of 'polishing a turd' is . . . #lufc— Jethro (@Buzzard_Stubble) March 16, 2019
Cheers for that Cooper..also what does Douglas actually bring to the team? #lufc— MattyM (@mattym2011) March 16, 2019
Waste of two substitutions bringing Douglas and Dallas on #lufc— Kirsty Stanley (@stanners_1982) March 16, 2019
97th minute and Barry Douglas walks the ball back into our own half. Exasperating.— mish (@mishLUFC) March 16, 2019
I have to say that Bielsa has far more faith in Barry Douglas than I do #lufc— Martin Atkin (@MrMartinAtkin) March 16, 2019
Douglas coming on weakened us, lads out of form #lufc— Craig Kirkbright (@CraigyK81) March 16, 2019
Douglas substitution might well be the worst there has ever been if you consider the money at stake. #lufc— Tommy (@tommy_lufc) March 16, 2019
