Rangers manager Steven Gerrard
If Rangers fail to win the Old Firm derby against Celtic later this month, then they are unlikely to maintain their title challenge this season.
Rangers boss Gerrard has suggested that he wants to sign players in the summer transfer window who are leaders.
The former Liverpool midfielder has also said that the Gers have identified potential transfer targets in the summer transfer window - comments which should excite the Ibrox faithful.
Gerrard told The Scottish Sun: “We know we need more leaders. We need more people who can manage games better — and we need more quality.
“So there’s quite a few big areas of where we are that I need to address moving forward, but the reality is that is where Rangers are now.”
The Englishman added: “The ball is already rolling in terms of plans to change certain parts of the team.
"We know who we want to be with us to take us forward. We’ve identified people we would like to join us.”
Rangers have done well under Gerrard this season, but Celtic clearly have the best squad in Scotland.
For the Gers to give the Hoops a run for their money next season, they do need better players with a winning mentality.
Rangers will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Kilmarnock at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
