Dean Smith's charges surged into the Championship playoffs after putting three past Boro at Villa Park.
Aston Villa have broken into the Championship playoffs as they ran out 3-0 winners over a lacklustre Middlesbrough outfit in Saturday's Championship encounter at Villa Park.
The West Midlanders, who have now won four league games in a row, dominated against Boro, boasting more than 60 percent possession and weighing in with 18 shots (Sky Sports).
Villa drew first blood against Tony Pulis's side just before the half hour mark as Anwar El Ghazi latched on to John McGinn's square pass, picked his spot and slotted home.
McGinn then turned from provider to goalscorer on the stroke of half time, making the most of the advantage played by the referee following a foul to bear down and goal and apply a low finish into the bottom corner.
After Britt Assombalonga had missed Boro's best chance of the game, nodding wide from inside the area, Albert Adomah scored on the rebound in the 88th minute after Jonathan Kodjia's effort was parried into the scorer's path by Darren Randolph.
Villa legend Stan Collymore took to Twitter after the game and delivered a short but very sweet message:
UP THE VILLA!!!— Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) March 16, 2019
Some of the B6 faithful responded to him on the social media platform:
