It has been reported that Derby owner Mel Morris is open to selling the club should the Rams fail to clinch promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Wyness was recently the chief executive of Derby’s Championship rivals Villa and knows the division well.

“Wyness is again attracting interest from the American market, with Morris looking for fresh investment after bankrolling the club for four years through several failed promotion bids,” adds the report in The Times.
