Norwich City have extended their lead at the top of the Championship table to four points after they claimed their sixth win on the trot away at Rotherham United while Leeds United were beaten at Elland Road by Sheffield United earlier on Saturday.

The New York Stadium played host to the table-topping Canaries - who saw their nearest competitors switch to Chris Wilder's Blades after their 1-0 win over Marcelo Bielsa's side - up against a side battling relegation.

Although the Millers began brightly against Daniel Farke's charges, it was the visitors who took the lead on the stroke of half time through Kenny McLean, who latched on to Teemy Pukki's pass and slotted past Marek Rodak.

Early the second half, Rotherham ace Semi Ajayi scored his fifth goal in six games as he turned and curled beyond the reach of Tim Krul from the edge of the box, but the Canaries did not wait long before they were ahead once again.

Ben Godfrey held off his marker as McLean swung a corner in and connected with a powerful header to curl the ball back across goal into Rodak's far corner for what turned out to be the winning goal and a decent cushion at the summit.

Here is how some Norwich fans reacted on Twitter to the very important win in South Yorkshire, with some focus on the prior events in West Yorkshire:
