Ahead of Saturday's Championship trip to Ipswich Town, Nottingham Forest manager Martin O'Neill paid tribute to the club's fans for their support.

The Reds remain just three points adrift of the playoffs but their form this season has been hit and miss, with superb displays such as the wins over Leeds United and Derby County offset by disappointing performances and results elsewhere.

Forest travel to Portman Road on Saturday on the back of a disappointing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Aston Villa at the City Ground, a result which frustrated many of the Trickies faithful, as per some post-match reaction on Twitter.

Nonetheless, the fanbase remains incredibly supportive of the club, with the Villa game being their sixth general admission sell-out of 2019 (Forest Twitter) and with season ticket / card renewals seeing more than 1,000 sold within an hour of them going on sale on Friday morning (Forest Twitter).

O'Neill was incredibly pleased with the support and, in conversation with the Forest media team, said: "I think it is now up to us to do something to please them. They are putting their hard-earned money in their pockets for season cards for next season, which is incredible really with the season not being finished.

"It makes you want to strive to try and get this team into the big league for them. They have shown their patience but I would just really love to reward them if at all possible."

The Reds will be looking to do the double over Ipswich, who are rooted to the bottom of the Championship table, following their 2-0 victory at the City Ground back in December.
