Liverpool are facing another battle with Bayern Munich.
The Reds secured one of their most impressive Champions League results of the last decade on Wednesday night, a Sadio Mane-inspired side thumping the Bundesliga champions 3-1 in their own back yard to seal a place in the quarter-finals.
But it seems that Bayern are hoping to get one over one the side who dumped them out – albeit in the boardroom rather than on the pitch.
Last week, Bleacher Report broke the news that Liverpool wanted to bring Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech to Anfield at the end of the season. A majestic midfielder who has tallied 18 goals and 16 assists this season, the Moroccan international could finally fill the Philippe Coutinho-shaped void in Klopp’s midfield.
But Bayern are keen too. According to Marca, Niko Kovac’s side have contacted Ajax over a potential deal for Ziyech, who scored a typically clinical opener in last week’s stunning 4-1 Champions League thrashing of Real Madrid.
Ajax want £30 million for one of the most influential midfielders in Europe. And with Bayern planning a big-money overhaul in the summer, don’t bet against the Bavarians meeting Ajax’s demands.
