Harry Redknapp suggested on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (9:08am, March 15, 2019) that he does not see Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale returning to Tottenham Hotspur.
According to The Express, Madrid are interested in signing attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen from Tottenham in the summer transfer window and are willing to send Bale to Spurs as part of the deal.
The Wales international winger was on the books of Spurs from 2007 until 2013 before leaving for Spanish and European giants Madrid.
Former Tottenham manager Redknapp worked with Bale at the North London outfit, and he does not envisage a return to the Premier League club for the 29-year-old.
Redknapp said about Bale on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (9:08am, March 15, 2019): “I mean, it’s a difficult one. He is on so much money there.
“He is not going to get that sort of money at Tottenham, is he? If he does, Harry Kane is going to get a pay-rise. I doubt very much whether that would happen.”
No Tottenham Hotspur return?
According to The Sun, Bale earns £650,000 per week as salary at Madrid, and it is hard to see Tottenham pay that kind of wages to the former Southampton star.
While the Welshman will be a very good signing for Spurs and will enhance their chances of winning the Premier League title next season, he would be too costly for the North London outfit.
