Clinton Morrison has told Sky Sports that he doesn't know why Christian Eriksen isn't signing a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur.
Eriksen's future in North London is under the microscope, with his contract only valid until 2020.
That means Tottenham might have to sell this summer or risk losing him for free 12 months later.
The 27-year-old is arguably having his best season with the Lilywhites, and former Premier League striker Morrison intimates that he should stay put.
“I think he’s been excellent, and it would be hard to replace him," Morrison told Sky Sports.
"I don’t know why he’s not signing a contract at Tottenham, he’s been outstanding and I thought he had a good relationship with Pochettino.
“But if they lose him, that’s a massive blow because he’s been tremendous.”
Eriksen, in this market, is easily worth a nine-figure sum, but the problem is his contract. He isn't worth in excess of £100 million when he is available for free in only 14 months.
Of course, they have the same problem with Toby Alderweireld, though extending Eriksen's contract would be a far bigger coup because, well, Eriksen is a far bigger player for the North Londoners.
