Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has spoken about his side's triumph over Bayern Munich in the Champions League and paid homage to both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for their contributions in the second leg.
The Reds drew 0-0 at Anfield in the last-16 first leg against Niko Kovac's side and, even though the Bundesliga outfit did not get an away goal, the Allianz Arena was expected to be a tough test for Jurgen Klopp's side.
However, Liverpool managed to draw first blood on 26 minutes when Mane brought down Virgil van Dijk's deliver before firing into an empty net after Manuel Neuer had rushed from his goalline.
Bayern pulled one back when Joel Matip turned into his own net from close range but, in the second half, Van Dijk headed home James Milner's corner to put the Merseyside outfit back on top.
Six minutes from time, Liverpool made sure of victory and progress to the quarter-finals of the competition when Mane scored his 10th goal from as many games, a header which left Neuer with no chance.
On the topic of Mane, Alexander-Arnold told the official Reds site: “He’s a world-class player and he showed that again. It was a special first goal and great movement for the second goal, I think credit goes to Mo for picking him out. But especially the first one, he did fantastically to get the finish away.”
Some Liverpool fans had their say on Twitter about the defender's comments:
