A number of West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to react to Rekeem Harper's performance during the Baggies' 3-0 win against Swansea City on Wednesday - and it appears that the supporters are very divided on what they made of the youngster's display.
West Brom's players had the chance to prove that the board's controversial decision to sack Darren Moore last week was correct. The 3-0 scoreline suggests that it was vindicated, but it does not tell the full story of the game - which included a comical penalty miss from the Swans' Bersant Celina.
But the most important thing for the Baggies is that they are back to winning ways and have kept their slim automatic-promotion hopes alive heading into the final nine games of the campaign.
One player who will be hoping to play a key role in the run-in is Harper, who played the full 90 minutes at the Hawthorns against Graham Potter's men.
The youngster divided opinion on social media. Some have lauded his performance in the emphatic win, with one supporter even predicting that he has seen enough to believe that Harper will be playing Champions League football in the future.
However, others have been incredibly critical of the 19-year-old and suggested that they are no longer bothered about whether he signs a new contract at the Hawthorns, with his current deal set to expire this summer (via Daily Mail).
Here is what some of the fans made of Harper's display...
The last time I saw a young lad cover the ground so effortlessly and gracefully in #wba shirt we had just signed him from Orient. Harper could be anything. I do hope we keep him.— Duds (@AdamHingley) March 13, 2019
Win was most important thing tonight. Players seemed to work hard. Murphy and Harper didn’t seem quite at it. HRK quality when he came on. Brunt shut his haters up. Johnstone with the best goalkeeping I’ve seen in years #WBA— Paul (@P4ulG87) March 13, 2019
#WBA Assesment Sam Johnstone MOM = Outstanding ,Defence= more comfortable not having to play it around at the back. Hegazi = class Murphy = hides, lazy. Kanu made a difference. Harper = Not affective. Livermore = worked harder than ever. Gayle,J.Rod =worked hard. 3pts = happy— BAILEY (@BAGGIEBAIL) March 13, 2019
He's far too composed and confident on the ball for a fella that's played about 20 senior games, it's frightening— Cam (@_camwba) March 14, 2019
I cannot believe all the praise for Townsend last tonight. And as for Harper... one of the laziest players I've seen on par with Luke Moore and Nathan Ellington. Couldn't care if he don't sign a contract with us #WBA #WBASWA— Michael Rhodes (@RhodesWbafc) March 14, 2019
What a player young Harper is! When his already good decision making on when to drive, pass, shoot etc gets even better with experience he will play for a Champions League club, no problem. #wba #rekeemharper— Paul Debney (@PaulDebney) March 14, 2019
I’m watching a different player to everyone else I thought he was anonymous again last night other than one run in first half and one crap shot in the second— Andy Dickens (@AndyDickens1) March 14, 2019
Thoughts on last night are, really glad we got the win, owed much to Johnstone’s brilliance between the sticks, Young Harper seems to be going backwards to me, since Villa away he’s looked laboured & quite lazy, needs to give more, Holgate & Hegazi excellent again #wba— Jay Hickman (@HurricaneHic147) March 14, 2019
