We knew for a while that Dragon Quest XI: Echoes Of An Elusive Age S was coming to the Switch in Japan, but Nintendo’s direct event (back in February) finally confirmed that it will also be coming to the west in 2019. Unfortunately, Square Enix are "undecided" about whether they will additionally release the enhanced edition for PlayStation 4 and PC later on, but as of right now there’s lots of additional content for Nintendo Switch enthusiasts to look forward to judging by these newly released screenshots.
Per Siliconera, Square Enix’s newly released screenshots for the “definitive version” of Dragon Quest XI show off some of the new features including 2D mode which has nostalgic visuals inspired by the game’s 3DS version.
There’s also a screenshot that shows the menu for switching between the orchestral soundtrack and the original synthesised one, as well as an image that shows companions now follow you out in the field.
Dragon Quest XI S launches for the Nintendo Switch in fall 2019 for the west. Along with the option of being able to marry whoever you want, there will also be additional stories that reveal news aspects about the backgrounds and personalities of your companions.
