According to Goal France, Arsenal held talks about a deal for Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr last week – straight after losing to the French side.
The Gunners travelled to France last week for their Europa League clash with Rennes, and lost 3-1 in a disappointing showing from Unai Emery's side.
Tonight's second leg gives Arsenal a chance to overturn the scoreline and progress in the competition, but last Thursday's defeat gives them a mountain to climb.
It may not have been all bad news for the Gunners though, as Goal France report that straight after the game, Arsenal held impromptu talks with Rennes about their winger Sarr.
The Senegal international scored the third Rennes goal and impressed on the night with his blistering pace, with Arsenal allegedly holding 'informal' talks with the Rennes hierarchy after the final whistle.
Sarr would certainly bring a direct and tricky option to the Arsenal attack, and with 10 goals and eight assists this season, the 21-year-old is having a fine campaign.
Yet with European qualification unlikely, Everton may now be unlikely to stand a chance of landing Sarr, especially with Arsenal already seizing their golden chance to sit down with Rennes and talk about a potential move.
