Nottingham Forest have announced that young attacker Arvin Appiah has been called up to the England Under-19s squad for the first time.

The 18-year-old, who recently signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with the Championship club (official Forest website), has represented the Three Lions at numerous youth levels.

Appiah has played for England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level, being part of the team which reached the semi-finals of the Under-17 European Championship last summer.

The teenager joined Forest as a nine-year-old and made a goalscoring debut for the first team this season, coming off the bench to find the net against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup.

Appiah then made his Championship debut on New Year’s Day against Leeds United at The City Ground, but as of yet he has only played one minute of league football (Transfermarkt).

Forest posted a Twitter message praising Appiah for his call-up on Thursday afternoon:

Some Trickies faithful responded and urged the club to give him more first-team action:

Appiah netted a brace as Forest's U-23 were held to a 2-2 draw by Colchester United in the Professional Development League on Monday afternoon.
