Some Newcastle United fans have responded after the Premier League club confirmed that three of its young stars have been recalled from their respective loan spells.

Elias Sorensen, Jamie Sterry and Cal Roberts have seldom featured for their temporary outfits in the second half of the season since leaving St James' Park on loan.

Sorensen went to Blackpool but played just 32 minutes at Bloomfield Road, while Sterry played just one game at Crewe Alexandra and Roberts managed 37 minutes of action at Colchester United (Chronicle Live).

Newcastle announced the news this week with an article on their official website and a Twitter post:

Some Magpies fans made their feelings known on the social media platform:

Sorensen, 19, scored 19 goals for United's second string while Roberts. 21, scored 13 times - plus a goal in the FA Cup - and Sterry, 23, has made three first team appearances under Rafael Benitez this term.

All three players will rejoin the Magpies Under-23s for the rest of the season and could feature for Ben Dawson's charges at Reading in the Premier League Cup on Friday.
