Tottenham Hotspur currently sit one place and a single point ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Paul Merson was a guest on Sky Sports’ The Debate programme last night, and suggested that it will be unbelievable if Arsenal jump above Tottenham in the Premier League table during the next set of league fixtures.
Spurs have been well ahead of the Gunners for the majority of this season, but their return of just one point from their last four Premier League games has seen their lead over their bitter rivals cut to just one point.
Next up for Tottenham is a trip to Liverpool on March 31st, whilst Arsenal welcome Newcastle to the Emirates, and Merson suggested that it would be unbelievable if his former club move two points clear of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The 50-year-old gave his opinion on the situation, during a guest appearance on Sky Sports’ The Debate programme last night:

“You look at the next lot of fixtures and you probably expect Arsenal to beat Newcastle, you won’t expect Tottenham to beat Liverpool. So Arsenal will go above them. They’ll go above them in that game and with seven games to go they will be two points clear, which is unbelievable.”
It was only just over two weeks ago when Tottenham were being touted as genuine challengers for the Premier League title, whilst Arsenal were many fans’ and pundits’ tips to finish in sixth spot.
How things have changed.
And as Merson suggested, should the Gunners leapfrog Spurs in the next round of fixtures, it really would be incredible, considering the gap between the two sides just a few weeks ago.
