Premier League Everton reportedly wanted to sign Lucas Tousart from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon as a replacement for PSG target Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Lyon midfielder Lucas Tousart turned down a move to Everton in the January transfer window, according to France Football.
It was a busy window for the Toffees with much of the gossip surrounding the future of influential midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye.
It was well documented that Paris Saint Germain wanted to take the former Lille enforcer back to France two months ago, with coach Thomas Tuchel hardly hiding his desire to sign a defensive midfielder.
According to France Football, Gueye could have been handed his dream move had Tousart said yes to a mid-season switch from Lyon to Everton.
It is claimed that the Toffees identified Tousart as a replacement for Gueye but the 21-year-old did not want to join Marco Silva’s side. As a result, Gueye was forced to stay in the North West.

Tousart, a France U21 international, has been a regular first-teamer at Lyon since the 2016/17 season and he has started 17 Ligue 1 games in the current campaign.
An intelligent passer and a tireless ball-winner, he has been likened to Chelsea star N’Golo Kante and former France captain Didier Deschamps, as reported by Goal.
