Celtic fans have had their say on Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor retiring from international football.

Celtic fans on Twitter want Scott Bain to become Scotland’s number one goalkeeper after Rangers’ Allan McGregor announced his retirement from international football.

As reported by BBC Sport, the 37-year-old is opting to focus on club football and has, as a result, decided to call it a day, with Alex McLeish naming his squad on Tuesday.

The former Premier League manager has named, Millwall’s Jordan Archer, Sunderland’s Jon McLaughlin and Celtic’s, Scott Bain as his three main men between the sticks, as reported by BBC Sport.

Nonetheless, Bhoys fans on social media were adamant that they want to see their main man start for Scotland, who are hoping to qualify for the 2020 European Championships.

One fan stated that Scotland ‘don’t need’ McGregor, while another expressed his surprise at his decision to retire because he felt that the Rangers man was happy playing in goal for his country.

Here is a selection of Celtic fans on Twitter reacting to what McGregor opted to do on Monday ahead of the international fixtures later this month:

Over the course of this season, McGregor has been a regular in goal for Steven Gerrard’s side, who are chasing silverware at the end of the campaign.
