Alfredo Morelos recently signed a new contract with Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers.
Morelos recently signed a new contract with Rangers which will see him remain at Ibrox until 2013.
The Colombia international is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership and is playing well for Steven Gerrard’s side at the moment.
Former Celtic defender Stubbs does not see Morelos staying at Rangers for long, and he has also suggested that the temperament and edge of the 22-year-old is similar to when former Manchester United and Everton striker Wayne Rooney was young.
Stubbs said on BT Sport about Morelos’s future: “I would be very surprised if he is still there next year.”
The former Hibernian manager added: “It was like Wayne Rooney when he was young, he had the edge. Sometimes if you take the edge away from him, he is a different player.”
Advice from Gordon Smith
Rangers will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Aberdeen at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup quarter-final replay.
Former Rangers star Gordon Smith has suggested that Gers manager Gerrard should include Morelos in the starting lineup despite the chance of the youngster getting booked.
The Gers will take on bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup if they progress, and the 22-year-old is just a booking away from being suspended for the tie.
Smith wrote in The Sunday Post: “He can’t afford to rest Morelos as he can’t be sure his team will win against the Dons without him.
“For any Rangers fans still not convinced, I’d suggest they have a think back to this season’s League Cup semi-final.
“Then, with Morelos suspended, Rangers were beaten by Tuesday’s opponents, who went on to lose to Celtic in the final.”
