In addition to a multiplayer component for Bloody Palace, a recent datamine suggests Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 will also add a new playable character.
Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5 was one of my most anticipated games for 2019, and it’s undoubtedly made up for Ninja Theory’s supposed bastardisation of Dante by exceeding my huge expectations. Yes, despite there being a bizarre fiasco involving Sony censoring a character’s buttocks, Capcom’s fifth instalment is a gloriously good time with its insane bosses, wicked music, and addictive combat. Before its release producer Matt Walker confirmed that Bloody Palace would return through a post-launch free update, but PC players have seemingly uncovered a multiplayer component and a new playable character.
According to a Reddit post with a link to a screengrab of the PC version’s game files, players have uncovered a reference for Bloody Palace which supposedly involves matchmaking. With Bloody Palace being a series’ staple that allows players to defeat waves of enemies, the addition of matchmaking would – in theory – allows gamers to team up and slaughter enemies together.
Spoilers beyond this point:
As if his involvement was in any doubt, fans of Vergil will be pleased to know that another of the game’s files references Dante’s brother as a playable character. If true, there’s no way of knowing if Vergil will have his own DLC or simply be playable in Bloody Palace, but it’ll still be something to be excited about.
Devil May Cry 5 is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
