Newcastle United produced a stunning comeback to beat Everton at St James’ Park.

Fabian Schar and Salomon Rondon were amongst the Newcastle stars to take to Twitter to comment on the Magpies’ stunning victory against Everton at St James’ Park on Saturday.

Rafa Benitez’s side appeared to be heading towards their first home league defeat since the start of January as the Toffees took a 2-0 first-half lead on Tyneside, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison scoring for the visitors.

There was controversy before the second goal as Jordan Pickford somehow avoided a red card after he brought Rondon down inside the box. The referee gave the penalty – which Matt Ritchie saw saved – but surprisingly decided that Pickford’s challenge should not lead to a sending off.

But while Benitez’s men may have felt that everything was going against them, they managed to produce a remarkable comeback in the second-half, with Ayoze Perez scoring twice and Rondon also getting on the scoresheet.

Unsurprisingly, a number of players wanted to celebrate the win on social media after the full-time whistle. Rondon noted that Newcastle have won their last five league games, while Schar needed just three words to sum up what he thought of the game.

Meanwhile, Perez suggested that the club is unstoppable when the players and fans are together. And based on their current home form, it is difficult to argue with the Spaniard.
