Brendan Rodgers walked out of Scottish Premiership champions Celtic to take over at Premier League outfit Leicester City last week.

Former Celtic manager Ronny Deila has indicated that Brendan Rodgers could have done better than Leicester City, in an interview with the Celts Are Here website.
Rodgers won successive domestic trebles in his two full seasons at Parkhead, but surprisingly walked out of the reigning Scottish Premiership champions last week to replace Claude Puel at the King Power Stadium.
His exit has caused plenty of controversy north of the border, with many supporters arguing that the former Liverpool boss has taken a step down, joining a club stuck in the middle of the Premier League table and with little chance of qualifying for Europe this season.
Deila, who Rodgers replaced at the helm in 2016, believes the Northern Irishman could have got a bigger job if he had been a little more patient.
“I’m very sad for Celtic because he did an unbelievably good job. It’s important to have consistency at the club – especially Celtic who are going for ten in a row,” said Deila, who is now coaching Valerenga in Norway.

“I think he’s so good he could have managed a top four or five club down south straight from Celtic and not went to Leicester. I was surprised.”
Celtic have responded perfectly to Rodgers’ departure, with interim coach Neil Lennon winning both of his games in charge away at Hearts and Hibernian. That 100 per cent record is likely to come under threat from a dangerous Aberdeen outfit on Saturday however.
Rodgers, meanwhile, lost 2-1 to Watford in his first game in charge of Leicester, the Foxes conceding a late winner to Andre Gray.
